You see a child with cancer. We see the mother she’ll become.

Your Gift Supports a Dynamic Research and Care Platform Working on the Leading Edge of Pediatric Cancer Care

The Cancer Institute is among few pediatric treatment and research facilities in the country able to deliver immediate care informed by the latest in research and clinical trial breakthroughs. The Institute provides treatment protocols that were unimaginable just a few years ago, accelerating positive outcomes here at the heart of Orange County—CHOC Children’s.

Over the years, the overwhelming majority of cancer research had been directed at curing the disease in adults. The reason is simple. Treatment of adults drives revenue in cancer care. But finding the right care for adults is not the same as finding the right care for children. Bridging the knowledge gap between the adult and pediatric worlds of cancer, Dr. Leonard Sender, Medical Director of the CHOC Children’s Cancer Institute, has a unique experience base and opportunity to design more effective treatments,

improving the quality of care for children of all ages—not just in Orange County but nationally and internationally as well.

Meaningful Survivorship

Our vision is to increase both the cure and meaningful survivorship for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer. Throughout the process, we are keenly aware that curing the disease and increasing life expectancy is not enough. We seek to give each patient the best chance to live as normal a life as possible. Quality of life is paramount. The pursuit of meaningful survivorship requires a complex portfolio of specialized services as illustrated in the diagram below.

How can I endow the meaningful survivorship of children?
